London is known for its art, fashion, and theatre. When visiting this beautiful city, you would be remiss not to immerse yourself into the culture. You can do this by admiring the art in museums, visiting historic sites, and attending a show at a London theatre. Just as Broadway is known for its incredible shows in New York City, West End has amazing theatre in London.

Fortunately, as a group we were given the opportunity to see Mamma Mia! This iconic show was so beautiful to see live. All of the songs are originals from ABBA. These songs were then turned into a musical, and the show was written around them. If you ever have the opportunity to see this show, I definitely would suggest it. You can also settle for watching the movie, even though it's not the same.

Many students decided to take the opportunity see some other shows while in London. Marianna Faiello, Emily Harrell, Kaitlin Milligan, Rachel West, Amanda Gard, Tobi Phang-Lyn, Abby Drueke saw Wicked! This show is the prequel to The Wizard of Oz. The storyline is based around Galinda the Good Witch and Elphaba the Wicked Witch, and their unlikely friendship. Marianna said the cast and production were amazing! She also mentioned that the tickets were only around $25, so it was definitely worth it!

Ria Yu had the opportunity to see Disney's The Lion King. This is another show based off of a movie. The costumes and set design are so beautiful. This show is another one I highly suggest seeing!

Harry Potter is a worldwide phenomenon that seems to never die out. This show is set during the time Harry Potter's children are attending Hogwarts. Li Stalder and Ria Yu took the opportunity to see this show during their time in London as well.

Li Stalder was able to meet many of the cast members after the show! In the top left hand corner, you can see her signed playbill. The picture on the top right, shows Li with Paul Thornley, who played Ron Weasley in the show. You can see Jamie Parker, or Harry Potter, signing autographs in her 3rd picture (middle left). Alex Price, or Draco Malfoy in the show, is in the 4th picture. Li was also able to take a picture with Poppy Miller, who played Ginny Potter, shown in the last picture!
Another amazing show playing in London's West End Theatre is Book of Mormon. This hilarious musical portrays the life of young Mormon boys who set out on their two-year mission. This is definitely one of the best shows I have seen, and I highly recommend it to anyone! Warning: make sure you are prepared for some curse words and off-color humor.
